It make or break for Queens

For Queens the next few weeks is vital with the Doonhamers up against many of the teams also fighting for the fourth play-off place.

Queens were idle at the weekend because of the Scottish Cup but manager James Fowler wants a huge effort tonight when Queens head for Raith.

The Doonhamers face four vital games in the space of 11 days, the first three away to Raith, St Mirren and Morton and then at home to Dumbarton.

Fowler said: “We knew it was going to be tough against Hibs and we would have to match them for 90 minutes and I’m just delighted that even the subs coming on made a positive impact and a great strike from Andy Murdoch gave us the winner.

“We’ve not scored as many goals as we’d have liked but you’ve got to look at the opposition we’re playing. Hibs are a quality team and have been going well up to the last couple of weeks.”

He added: “I felt we deserved the win on our overall performance. It’s been three tough games against teams at the top of the table.

“We know we’ve got a run against teams round about us which is going to be a big ten days. It was important to put on performance like the Hibs game which is something we haven’t always done in back to back games.”

Turning to the Raith game the manager said: “We’ve probably been a bit unlucky against them this year so it’s important we go for the three points and I think we’re due a result.

“The matches against the other teams are going to be key games against teams that pushing for the top four. The Raith game is a six-pointer.”
