Former Whithorn Community Chief in Court

The former chairman of a community council in south west Scotland has appeared in court charged with rape.
Francis O’Neill, 60, of Whithorn, appeared in private at Stranraer Sheriff Court.
He resigned from his post as chairman of Whithorn Community Council last week citing personal reasons.
Mr O’Neill also faces charges of lewd and indecent practices. He made no plea or declaration before the sheriff and was released on bail.
