Suspicious Circumstances Surrounding Dog Death

Police Scotland report that they are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a seven month old Border Collie dog in Lockerbie.  The dog, Lucy, was being walked in the Cameron Court area of the town by two children on the afternoon of Sunday 11 August 2013.  Later that day, on returning home, it was found that the dog had become unwell, and as a result was taken to a local vet.  It was found that the dog was suffering from a high temperature and a racing heart, and died overnight.

At this stage the cause of death has not been confirmed and further examinations are planned to establish this.  Early indications are that the dog may have ingested something when out in Cameron Court, and as a precaution, Police Scotland have searched the area around Cameron Court with a drugs sniffer dog, however this has drawn a blank.  Environmental Services have also been contacted and have examined the area for any evidence which may help in establishing the cause of death of the dog.  Police are keen to hear from anyone who may have been in the Cameron Court are of Lockerbie over the weekend and who may have seen or heard anything suspicious.
