Opportunity for local young people to stand for Scottish Youth Parliament

Now is the time for local young people to stand up for what they believe in and make a difference by standing as a candidate in the forthcoming Scottish Youth Parliament (SYP) local by-election.
The by-election is being held to elect the second member of the Scottish Youth Parliament for this area, Galloway and West Dumfries, and will run from 7th – 11th October.
Candidate nominations for young people aged 14-25 are now open until Friday 6th September.
All candidates will be offered support by our Council’s Community Learning & Development staff throughout the by-election process.
Being a member of the Scottish Youth Parliament (MSYP) is an opportunity for young people to stand up for what they believe in and to represent their peers at a local and national level.
All MSYPs receive accredited training once they are elected; they get the opportunity to meet with and influence decision makers, meet with MSYPs from all over Scotland; campaign for change in their area and be a voice for young people.
