Dumfries Cricket Club LogoAPD Dumfries came up against a powerful batting performance from Eastern Premiership side Grange in the Murgitroyd Scottish Twenty20 Semi-Final in Glasgow on Sunday morning.

Dumfries batted first and the Stevenson & McConnel Dumfries Man of the Match Alan Davidson provided the top innings. Coming in at number four he hit 38 not out as the Dumfries innings lost wickets when some impetus had been gained. The century was brought up with a six and the side finished with a potential par score of 111 for the loss of six wickets.

However Munsey opened along with Scotland all-rounder Goudie and the former proceeded to hit some massive sixes as the Dumfries bowlers were unable to make the breakthroughs or stem the runs. Goudie was the only wicket to fall as Munsey finished on 52 not out and Flannigan 32 not out with the target reached in quick time.

Drumpellier then beat Aberdeenshire in the other semi-final but they lost to deserved winners Grange in a final with a similar scoreline to the Dumfries game.

Both firsts and seconds league matches were victims of the weather last Saturday. This Saturday APD Dumfries play their last home Western Premier league fixture with the opportunity to overtake their opponents, third placed West of Scotland.

Also on Sunday, Dumfries Women were beaten by St Boswells in their National League match at Nunholm. Dumfries started well having St Boswells at 15 for 2 with both wickets to Kirsty Strachan but then the experience of Scotland bat White (83no) and Waldie (50no) told as they rattled along without further loss to reach an imposing 151 in the twenty overs.

The Dumfries side batted well to reach 100 for five in reply. The Parkdale Garage Dumfries Player of the Match, Sue Jeffrey, was the top scorer with 23 not out with contributions in the teens from Rachel Howard and Sue and Kirsty Strachan.

For Scotland U17s, Dumfries’s Niall Alexander took two wickets as Scotland lost by one wicket in their high-scoring 2-day match at Suffolk last week.

This coming Saturday APD Dumfries play their last home Western Premier league fixture with the opportunity to overtake their opponents, third placed West of Scotland, whilst Eco-Genics Nunholm play West of Scotland seconds, Partick, in an away fixture on Saturday in the Western Premier Reserve League.
