Kavli Trust Awards £20,360 to Castle Douglas ARC

On Wednesday 26 February, a representative from Castle MacLellan Foods presented Castle Douglas Activity and Resource Centre (ARC) with a cheque for £20,360.
Castle McLellan is part of the Kavli Group. Kavli is owned by the Kavli Trust which supports good causes in the UK and abroad.
Chair of Social Work Services, Councillor Andy Ferguson, said, “The people who use our Activity and Resource Centre are thrilled to receive this money for the Centre. The money will be used to develop the outside areas of the ARC, allowing everyone who uses the service to have access to the garden.”
Sue Whiteley, Charity Committee member at Castle MacLellan Foods commented:
“Our employees vote annually for local good causes to support and money is donated from our parent company, The Kavli Trust. The Trust awarded £20,360 to support the ARC. Our staff also raised a further £1,000 themselves from various types of fundraising and the money raised was matched by the company.
“Everyone at Castle MacLellan is delighted to support such a worthy cause as the ARC in Castle Douglas. We hope the service users will benefit greatly from being able to access the refurbished area and be included in outdoor activities if they are able. Alternatively, just being exposed to the outdoor environment would benefit those with severe disabilities by using the senses they have to enjoy the varied environment.”
Vice Chair of Social Work Services, Councillor Ted Thompson, said, “A huge thank you to the Kavli Trust for this substantial donation. I look forward to seeing the garden when the work has been completed and I am sure that it will be of great benefit to staff and service users alike.”
After the presentation there was a celebration buffet and disco for people who attend the ARC.
