Thornhill kicks off festival season

Headlining the festival this year Aynsley Lister

Last weekend saw the third annual Thornhill Music Festival , held over 3 days in five venues the ducal village was treated to an eclectic mix of bands and acts from the local area as well as top talent from the north of England and the central belt .

           The festival was kicked off by Edinburgh SKA outfit Pork Pie who got the festival off to a high energy start , acoustic fans were entertained by 4 terrific acts in Thomas Tosh among them Sanquhar’s Lauren Dalgleish  and the emerging talent Lucy Zirins .
Saturday  saw the festival host local bands Barstow Bats , Sticks and Stones  , The Stefan and Against the Grain as well as well travelled  acts such as Tom Killner from Yorkshire and this years headliner Aynsley Lister who sold out the Bowling Club and turned in what can only be described as a stellar performance .
The festival welcomed on Sunday another diverse selection of acts like The Kung Fu Blues from Tyneside , top Scottish blues band Wang Dang Delta , Perth’s Simon Kennedy Band and Lewis Hamilton Band as well as  Cumbrian country rockers New England from Keswick . TMF committee member Iain Renicks said ” Once again we have had a highly successful festival and we must thank all the venues and all those who attended “.
