New Skills for Learners in Langholm

Dumfries and Galloway Council is continuing to meet a need identified through a local community survey by organising computing courses for adult learners in Langholm.
Learners have been meeting weekly at Langholm Academy to learn how to send emails, create posters, use the internet and undertake tasks within Microsoft Word and much more.
The course ended on 14 July. Each learner who completed the course will be given a certificate. Following this course, the majority of the participants wish to develop their new computing skills through additional learning.
Councillor Tom McAughtrie, who chairs the Council’s Community and Customer Services Committee said:
“It is really great to see local community members coming together, grasping local opportunities and achieving their personal goals. Our Council is committed to being an inclusive Council and adult learner courses such as this one in Langholm help the Council achieve this.”
Dumfries and Galloway Council’s Community Learning and Development Service offers a variety of free adult learning opportunities to people aged 16 and over. These are delivered locally on both a one to one and group setting, and are tailored to individual’s needs and abilities.
