The Knowe B&B in Carsphairn is celebrating having recently been awarded as a GOLD four star B&B by VisitScotland.
The gold award recognises serviced accommodation businesses which consistently achieve the highest levels of excellence within their VisitScotland star grading. Businesses achieving the award will excel in the areas of customer care and hospitality and show evidence of a real commitment to development and training.
The Knowe B&B is nestled amongst stunning, rural countryside at the edge of The Galloway Forest Park in Carsphairn situated on the A713 Galloway Tourist Route, half way between Castle Douglas and Ayr. The late Victorian former Manse House is steeped in history with beautiful guest bedrooms which are carefully designed with guest comfort and indulgence in mind and fitted with the latest LED Smart TV, full internet access and free WiFi.
The B&B was introduced to VisitScotland’s Quality Assurance Scheme through introductory workshops held in 2013, supported by The South of Scotland Business Competitiveness Project which is delivered by Dumfries & Galloway Council and part financed by the European Regional Development Fund.
Since creating the Knowe B&B from a dilapidated dwelling house, Karen now has a beautiful property with plush interiors, and the business has benefited from aligning its marketing effort with key events such as the Commonwealth Games, and themed years such as Homecoming Scotland 2014. The engagement in these promotions helped to secure additional bookings during last year.
Karen of Knowe B&B said:I am totally delighted to receive this prestigious award from VisitScotland. It has always been my intention to deliver a first-class, quality guest experience based on good old-fashioned hospitality. I love Dumfries & Galloway and I’m committed to promoting tourism in this wonderful region. By offering my guests the perfect place to stay whilst they explore what we have to offer here, I believe I’m making a small contribution to a much larger cause. I would like to thank every one of my guests for their very kind comments and for telling their friends and family what an amazing time they have enjoyed here. We have met some wonderful people over the last two years from lots of different countries, many of whom we now consider friends, it’s fantastic to see them return again and again!
