Fans banned from matches

TWO Dumfries football fans have been banned from attending regulated matches for four months
It follows incidents during the Scottish League Cup game between Annan and Queen of the South.
Connor Fleming, 24, of Lincluden Road, Dumfries, was also fined £150 after admitting being in possession of a flare-type smoke grenade at the Gala bank ground at the weekend.
Irving Gracie, 25, of North Laurieknowe Place, Dumfries, was fined £150 when he pleaded guilty to behaving in a threatening or abusive manner, shouting and swearing at another supporter, refusing to leave the ground when requested by stewards and police.
The two fans appeared separately and the court heard that police and stewards made their way into a section containing Queen of the South supporters when smoke was seen coming from a group in that area.
Solicitor Ranald Lindsay said Fleming had been exasperated by Queen of the South failing to score.
He added that Fleming said he had found the grenade in the ground probably dropped by another fan who had seen the area policed by stewards and was still holding it when it went off.
It was “high jinks” on his part and he accepted that it was stupidity.
In the case of Gracie it was stated that he had been standing next to Fleming in a group and became abusive towards the steward and police.
Solicitor Liz Dougan said this resulted from his being wrongly identified.
