Homes hit in raids across region

AROUND £4,000 worth of jewellery has been stolen from a house in Dumfries and there have been raids on other homes and businesses across the region
Police Scotland said they are investigating the raids which have taken place over the past few days.
Sometime between Friday 17 July and Friday 31 July 2015 a house in Oakfield Brae in Dumfries was broken into.
A large quantity of jewellery was stolen in the raid, including gold rings, bracelets, chains and necklaces. The value of the property stolen is estimated to be around £4000.
Constable John Donnelly of Police Scotland in Dumfries said: “This is another house in Dumfries which has had a large quantity of jewellery stolen whilst the occupants were on holiday.
“We are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious in the Oakfield Brae area over this period.”
A Stihl make orange coloured chainsaw worth around £175 has been stolen in a break-in to an outhouse at a caravan at the Creetown Caravan Park, Creetown, Newton Stewart, sometime overnight Friday 31 July/Saturday 1 August 2015.
Constable Graeme Stewart of Police Scotland at Newton Stewart said: “Banging was heard in the area of the caravan at around 0045 hours on Saturday morning and we are keen to hear from anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious around this time. A house in Main Street in Kirkconnel was broken into sometime overnight Saturday 1/Sunday 2 August 2015. At this stage it does not appear that anything has been stolen.
A large quantity of cash and property, including a dvd player, three figurines, GHD hair straighteners, jewellery, a Dell laptop computer and an Ipad air were all stolen in a break-in to a house in Rose Street in Annan sometime between Thursday 30 July and Monday 3 August 2015.
Constable Suzanne Paul of Police Scotland at Annan said: “A lot of property has been taken in this break-in and we want to hear from anyone who may have been in the Rose Street area, which is a busy thoroughfare, over this period. Anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious should get in touch with me at Annan through 101.”
Police Scotland is investigating the following two thefts in the Thornhill area. In the first, a blue coloured Acer laptop computer was stolen from a house in Penpont, Thornhill, sometime overnight Wednesday 29/Thursday 30 July 2015.
In a second theft, a Honda make petrol lawnmower was stolen from a garage at a house on Durisdeer Mill, Thornhill, sometime between Wednesday 24 and Thursday 30 July 2015.
