HOUSEBREAKER JAILED AFTER NEIGHBOURS’ TIP-OFF

A housebreaker caught in the act in Dalbeattie has been jailed at Dumfries Sheriff Court
He was spotted by sharp eyed neighbours inside a nearby house and though he ran off they were able to give his description and he was caught nearby by police.
Donald Laidlaw had been seen by one neighbour going round the back of the house in High Street after the householder had gone off earlier in the morning.
He called in another neighbour and they went round the house through a window saw 29-year-old Laidlaw in the living room.
They called the police as Laidlaw ran off after realising he had been seen, but was quickly traced and arrested.
And at Dumfries Sheriff Court Laidlaw, described as a prisoner at Dumfries admitted the break in in July and also pleaded guilty to behaving in a threatening or abusive manner at the Loreburn Street Police Station and threatening an officer with violence.
He was jailed for 14 months.
