QUEENS TAKE ON HIBERNIAN IN PALMERSTON CHAMPIONSHIP CLASH

QUEEN of the South manager James Fowler is hoping his side can continue last season’s form against Hibernian when they clash at Palmerston today.
Queens recorded two wins and a draw against the Easter Road side last season and Fowler sees no reason why they can’t get the points this weekend.
The Doonhamers boss said: “I watched Hibs against Aberdeen last week and they were decent and defensively sound. They restricted Aberdeen who have been going really well and obviously it will be a different game against us.
“They will come out and attack a bit more and we have to be ready for that and defend like we did against Falkirk.
“I’m sure with the players we’ve got, we can cause them some problems as well.”
Fowler said they also had the home support behind them this weekend and added: “Last season we had a really good home record and it’s something we’d like to get back as well and have that fear factor for teams coming to Palmerston. That’s up to the staff and players to create that for other teams coming here.”
It will mark the end of the first quarter of the season and Fowler says he’d like to have been few points more than what they’ve got at present.
The Queens manager was pleased to come away with a point on Friday night in a goal-less draw against promotion seeking rivals Falkirk which ended a three-game losing run.
“You would probably call it a good point considering the start Falkirk have had to the season we’re obviously a bit disappointed about how we played for Falkirk were there for the beating.
“But after the last couple of weeks we’ve had, defensively, it was good to defend as well as we did and keep a clean sheet,” said Fowler.
He added: “We talked about it after the game and how we’ve just got to be a bit more clinical in the final third. Decision making is key when you get that area of the pitch and it’s something we’re looking to improve on at training and hopefully next week it will turn us into a win.
“The last couple of weeks we lost poor goals defensively so it was important that we eradicated them from our game against Falklirk. I felt we defended really well and restricted Falkirk to a few chances. Considering the start they’ve had it was probably a better point for us than them.”
Fowler is still trying to find the winning solution in terms of the formation and the personnel. The last couple of performances were decent and I didn’t make any changes against Falkirk.
