WEATHER ALERT: MORE WIND AND RAIN BATTERING SOUTH WEST SCOTLAND

THERE are yellow be aware warnings in force for Scotland and North West England for later today.
Heavy rain and gales have already swept across the South West this morning and the forecase is for more of the same.
The second band is expected this afternoon and evening with a spell of heavy rain and strong winds.
The winds are expected to reach up to 60mph during the early evening across Dumfries and Galloway and gusts could reach 70mph on coasts.
A watch will be kept on rivers along the Solway especially at the River Nith at Dumfries and the Esk at Langholm which flooded at the weekend.
The Scottish Environmental Protection Agency has issued a flood alert for the region today and said: “Heavy rain on Wednesday is expected to cause rivers and small watercourses to rise, which may cause flooding to low-lying land and roads.
“River levels are not expected to reach the levels seen over the weekend. Due to the saturated ground there may also be some surface water flooding.”
