Fatal accident closes A76

A man has died in a crash on the A76 near Auldgirth today as a result of a road traffic collision . The accident happened just before 12pm which involved a car and a lorry. A spokesman for Police Scotland said we can confirm that a man has died in the road traffic collision earlier today on the A76. The road was closed for several hours to allow accident investigation work to take place. Drivers were diverted and the road was reopened around 7pm this evening . Police Scotland have not yet named the victim .
