Mid Nithsdale villagers left astounded .

Villagers in the Mid Nithsdale village of Thornhill have been left astounded , not only is the future of their Police Station in serious doubt they have now been told by Police Scotland that there will no enforcement of parking regulations in the village . A local shopkeeper said ” We have a couple of areas of real concern in the village where the parking is causing problems ” , ” Police Scotland tell us they now fall to D&G Council to enforce , but we have no traffic warden provision in this village ”
There has also been concerns raised about levels of community policing in Thornhill and rumours of major police restructuring in Nithsdale effectively down grading the subdivision and removing the Inspector from the area .
Local MP’s and MSP’s last week voiced their concerns about the proposed Station closures at various locations in Dumfries and Galloway and what seems to be a weakening of the Police Scotland presence in the region .
