CHRISTMAS SURPRISE FOR DUMFRIES COUPLE

LITTLE Lucas Lyle Watson decided to make his entrance on Christmas Day to the delight a Dumfries couple.

It was the ideal Christmas present for Louise Nichol and partner Joe Watson who hadn’t been expected the tot to be born until February.

The couple had to abandon their Christmas Day lunch plans and head for Cresswell in Dumfries where Lucas was born six weeks premature.

Lucas Lyle Watson made his appearance at 8.29pm and was Cresswell’s only Christmas Day baby.

Staff there were delighted and presented the couple with presents to mark the big day.

Louise and Joe, who have three other children, Sophie, eight, Evie, seven and Joe, four, won’t have baby Lucas home for around six weeks because he weighed-in at only 4lb 14 oz.

Louise, 26, said: “It was a wonderful Christmas present but one that we weren’t expecting.

“We were just preparing the Christmas dinner when Lucas decided that he was coming. In the morning the kids opened their Christmas presents but we could not give them their meal.”
Joe, 27, a  Queen of the South fan, added: “I was just getting the brussels done but we had to abandon the dinner and head for Cresswell.

“Baby Lucas’ middle name Lyle is after Queens striker Derek Lyle.”
