Step into Story Lab at your local library

Libraries across Dumfries and Galloway are getting ready to introduce children to the Story Lab. Step into Story Lab, and you’re off on an imaginative adventure that knows no bounds and that will keep you reading throughout the school summer holidays

From 16 June all local libraries will be inviting their young readers to take part in the Summer Reading Challenge – Story Lab. It’s all free and it’s fun, which is great news for parents. Last year’s Summer Reading Challenge, Circus Stars, was a great success and this year’s promises to be just as popular.

Prof Cortex has asked the Story Lab kids Will, Rani, Evie and Lex to recover three lost items, a bronze coin, a silver mirror and a gold medal, to boost the imagination of the Story Lab. During the course of the summer holidays children are encouraged to borrow and read six books from their local library in return for goodies such as wristbands, bookmarks, keyrings and door hangers. Every child who completes the challenge will be given a certificate and medal.

Councillor Ivor Hyslop says, ‘This is a great way of encouraging children to read over the summer holidays. It’s always very popular and encourages children and their families to visit our libraries.’

Just pop down to your local library from the 16 June to register for free.
