Window cleaner licensing
Written by admin on June 13, 2012
Anyone carrying on the trade of, or being employed as, a window cleaner in Dumfries and Galloway is required to be licensed with the Council under the Civic Government (Scotland) Act 1982. The licensing of window cleaners was introduced on the grounds of public safety and crime prevention – all applicants are subject to thorough background checks carried out by Dumfries and Galloway Constabulary.
All licensed window cleaners must have Public Liability Insurance and will be able to produce a photographic ID badge issued by the Council.
Members of the public will therefore wish to check that anyone offering window cleaning services holds a licence with our Council.
For more information on the licensing requirement or to identify licensed window cleaners in your area, please contact the Licensing Service of Dumfries and Galloway Council on 01387 245922.
