Tuesday’s Drivetime; have budget cuts affected grass cuts?

On Tuesday’s Drivetime (14th Aug), we had Zoe Bestel live from HMV Glasgow at around 4.15pm, getting ready for her live gig in the store, promoting her EP.
Then around 4.30pm; Patsy Gilroy, Chair of DG First Committee, and Fraser Marshall – Principal Environment Services Officer with DG First joined Mark Smith in the studio, talking about the current state of parks and public spaces around Dumfries – has the council’s grass cutting performance been affected by budget cuts this year?

Dear Sir
Can you please ask your represantives from council today Why our Dock park and Castledykes parks are still in a rundown terrible state. I have filmed the Dock park over a three year period and have watched both parks and the towns bandstand literally become almost deralict. Ihad a meeting within the Dock park well over a year ago now just after the last snow and asked them why was this allowed to happen. They informed me the park was cleaned weekly. That i would have to question as some bottles in one of bins were almost a year out of date. The signage within the park still advertises all the amenities that are available for visitors and residents. Yet most are now out of action and have been for years. ie bowling trampolining crazy golf etc.Ask them why the signage is still there as it must lead people on wild goose chases. The bandstand a great example of Brittish ironwork left to rot. They will say that they are getting a grant to put things right. But that is not the answer to the question. Why was our parks not maintained in a proper manner. The childrens swings have barracades round them as well. The people that have the responsibility for ongoing maintainance should hang their heads in shame.and give the people an appology today on air. At the same time somone from the council wants to hire a tourism manager at a cost of £40k per annum. Surely one should get priorities right. If you want visitors to come to Dumfries you have to have the facilities. Just last week the council were out in force tryiny to cleand the weeds from our streets just half an hour before Britain in Bloom judges arrived- is that the way to do it.
