ARREST IN CONNECTION WITH DUMFRIES SERIOUS ASSAULT

POLICE in Dumfries have arrested a 24-year-old man in connection with a serious assault in Dumfries early on Saturday.
A major police investigation has been going on since a 44-year-old man was found to have serious injuries in Queensberry Street, Dumfries in the early hours of Saturday morning.
He was taken to the Western General Hospital in Edinburgh, after initially being examined and treated at Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary.
Police said then that the man was critical and was being treated for a head injury.
Today a Police Scotland spokesman said: “A 24 year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident. A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.”
It is expected that the man will appear at Dumfries Sheriff Court in conncection with the incident.
