Bad weather – road closures across Dumfries & Galloway

The Whitesands in Dumfries is likely to flood later this afternoon and car owners are being asked to remove their vehicles parked in Whitesands car parks as soon as possible.
Police say they currently are aware of two road closures in the region due to flooding. The A762 between New Galloway and Allan Gibbon Bridge and the A714 at the junction with the B7027, Newton Stewart. Diversions are in place.
Police reiterate earlier warnings to motorists to take extreme care in the current very poor driving conditions. Heavy rain and gusting winds are being experienced across the region and many roads now have standing water on them. Drivers are asked to switch on lights in the poor visibility and to drive to the conditions faced.
