Christmas Light switch on just a week away!!

This year’s Christmas lights switch on takes place on Sunday 25 November, with entertainment starting at 1pm.
The family fun gets underway with a performance from the Dumfries Razzamataz Theatre School, and continues throughout the afternoon with singing sensation Zoe Bestal and classical music with a modern twist provided by Voce. The entertainment takes on a Scottish flavour thereafter with lively folk melodies from Jenn Butterworth and Laura-Beth Salter.
Santa gets in on the act at 4pm with a High Street procession before Silver Fox take to the stage to play popular Christmas Hits to get the crowds singing along in the run up to the big switch on at 5pm.
This year’s switch on will be carried out by Christmas lights competition winners from local primary schools, alongside Santa and Nithsdale Area Committee Chair, Councillor Gill Dykes. The competition winners will be presented with their certificates on stage around 4pm.

“The Christmas lights switch on is a great occasion in Dumfries. I would encourage you to come along with your families and friends to enjoy the entertainment running throughout the afternoon, with the big finale being the switch on of the lights at 5pm”
