DSAFL Weekly Report – 7 December 2014

A great battling victory for Kings FC sees the Lochmaben represent the region into the 2015 in the Scottish Cup in the 5th round.

Laurie Maxwell ensure the teams went in level at half time. Levi Carrick then put Kings in from before Thomsons AFC scored a twice to seemingly put Kings in trouble but Aaron Currie and Peter Jonstone struck late as Kings rallied to edge a seven goa thriller.

Moffat and Loreburn both visited the central belt and found both opponents on their game to bow out 3-0 and 4-0.

Normandy had a tremendous victory against Hole in Wa which puts a dent in Wa’s title chase. A tight game where Bobby Green struck very early in the game for Normandy from a corner. Wa fought their corner and equalised through Joe Jardine who shot low across the keeper just after the hour. Normandy within minutes regained the lead when they broke away to score through Curtis Telfer and they seemed to have the points secured when Jordan Muirhead scored a well taken free kick late on. But Wa were not going down without a fight and Davy Dolan set up a grandstand finish with a late penalty but Normandy saw the game out to take the points.

Five Arches had the days early kick off and took the game to Palmerston Colts with a solid and workmanlike victory. Graham Maxwell, Stephen McDill and a Chris Ross double sealing a very good victory for the visitors.

In the Metrik Office First Division Kelloholm will consider themselves unlucky to go down to Jolly who also played well on the day. Jolly now extend their lead at the top of the league.

Russell Thomson opened the scoring for Jolly before Robert Menzies equalised in a one on one with Jollys keeper. Midway through the second half Kris Clark scored a stunning free kick that went in off the bar before he ten extended their lead with a goalmouth scramble.

Kelloholms cause wasn’t helped by being reduced to 10 men but they continued to pass and move well and created several gilt edged chances that they couldn’t put away until Geoff Patterson struck in the last minute but it was too little to late on the day.

Youth Utd moved into top half of the table winning comprehensively against Park Thistle. Jamie Linwood, Anton Mackay and Keiron Linwood all with doubles as well as goals from Aaron Stewart and Steven Dinnell to make sure of the points.

Ruthwell had to wrestle the game away from Summerhill who started of well taking the lead twice before succumbing to a solid second half by the hosts. Ruthwell scoring through Josh Adams (2), Jack Ball, Neil Cochrane and Adam Gilmour whilst Ian Christine (2) and Reece brown scored for Summerhill.
