Dumfries Samaritans rev up for Volunteers epic journey

Written by on August 9, 2012

David Exley, a Samaritans volunteer in his home town of Worthing on the south coast of England is on a mammoth tour of all the Samaritan offices around the UK and Ireland.

He set off from his local branch on 2nd of July and is weaving his way across the country to raise awareness of what the Samaritans are about, the life saving service they give and why people need to support the charity.

Dumfries MSP Dr Elaine Murray and Dumfries Provost Jack Groom joined many of the local volunteers to cheer David’s arrival.  The intrepid motorcyclist has himself felt the grief of tragedy in his life and the Samaritans is something he is extremely passionate about. David spent time talking to the volunteers and guests.
