DUMFRIES and Galloway Council is hosting a ground breaking employer partnership event at Hetland Hall Hotel between 9am and 12.30pm on Tuesday November 3.

The purpose of the event is to support local employers build the workforce of the future where we want every young person to:

  • Be ready for the world of work
  • Have the core skills and abilities that will make them valuable employees
  • Develop an understanding of your industry and career opportunities

Employers from across Dumfries and Galloway are being invited to attend to hear and discuss how to work in partnership with schools to influence the curriculum and provide more meaningful and relevant exposure to the world of work for our young people.

Attendees will hear from national and local employers who have benefited from working with schools and from supporting young people’s employability and skills development as well as finding out about funding and training support for your business.

Councillor Colin Smyth, chairman of the Environment, Economy, Environment and Infrastructure Committee said: “Dumfries and Galloway Council is investing in a number of key developments supporting employment opportunities.  This type of event is critical to our Council achieving our key priorities and supports our Youth Guarantee while ensuring that Dumfries and Galloway remains a destination of choice for employers and employees.”
