FIVE MORE VEHICLES DAMAGED IN DUMFRIES

FIVE more vehicles have been found to be damaged in Dumfries as the crime spree against vehicles continues in the town.

Police Scotland said today that further to the report of a spate of vandalism to vehicles in Dumfries over the weekend , a further five reports have been received of damage caused to cars.

  • A grey Toyota Celica car had a tyre punctured while parked at Lewars Avenue sometime overnight Saturday/Sunday
  • A white Ford Focus had two windows smashed overnight Sunday/Monday while parked at the Shortridge Unit in Irongray Road.
  • A green Skoda Octavia car had a mirror smashed while parked in Criffel Avenue overnight Saturday/Sunday.
  • A green Citroen Xsara car had a mirror smashed while parked in Criffel Avenue overnight Saturday/Sunday.
  • A grey Skoda Fabia car had a window smashed while parked in Rotchell Road sometime overnight Sunday/Monday

A spokesman said: “Enquiries into this recent spate of crimes continue and the public are asked that if they have any information which may be of assistance in helping catch those involved then they should call Police Scotland on 101.”

Yesterday police in Dumfries said that damage had occurred over the weekend to six vehicles.

  • A black Renault Clio parked in Lochside Road had a window smashed at around 0415 hours on Saturday morning.
  • A Landrover Freelander, a Renault Master van and a Ford Transit pick-up each had a tyre vandalised while parked in Oliphant Court overnight Friday/Saturday.
  • A Honda Civic car parked in Criffel Road had a window smashed sometime Saturday/Sunday.
  • A VW Beetle parked in Eastfield Road had a mirror smashed sometime between Friday and Sunday.

Constable Simon Gleave at Dumfries said: “These acts of vandalism continue to cost the victims a great deal of money and inconvenience and we again appeal to the public to come forward if they have any information which might help us catch those responsible.”
