This Tuesday on FOLKnSTUFF Hugh Taylor has a very special show planned.
It’s the fortieth anniversary this year of Virgin Record and of their first release, Tubular Bells.
Tomorrow, October 1st, a new record label is launching a brand new version of this classic.
Tubular Bells by The Children of Ireland is the first release for Viral Discs and Downloads and is produced by Tom Newman who produced the original Tubular Bells.
Hugh will be talking to Tom about his involvement with Mike Oldfield’s Classic and about his latest work, which is collaboration with the musician Paul Brett and with support from Sir Richard Branson.
This new recording by Tom is of Irish children, including some with disabilities, as the musicians.
Paul Brett told Alive 107.3 that ‘ The key to keeping music alive is to inspire future generations to develop and express their musical talents…”
That sits very well with the philosophy at Alive 107.3 and as well as Tom Newman, Hugh will have as his live studio guest the very talented young singer/songwriter, heather Young performing live.
