Gatehouse Of Fleet Mill Sessions Continue on Friday 23rd August

Gatehouse of Fleet’s Mill Sessions have become a fixture on the local music calendar in the last two years, bringing artists as diverse as Jane Siberry, Beerjacket and Alasdair Roberts to the Stewartry. Held in the Faed Gallery in the Mill on the Fleet, these acoustic sessions provide an intimate showcase for artists from any genre, unplugged, up close and personal. This month’s Session is no exception, but there is a twist: rather than having a local act support a well known artist, the August session is launching a brand new Galloway record label and music collective.
‘Lost Wasp Records’ is hoping to promote original songwriting in the region and to provide opportunities for local acts to record and release their songs. And, starting as they mean to go on, the Mill Session will be recorded by Marcus Wright of MW Sound as the basis for a Lost Wasp Records sampler album. Featured artists will include Susi Woodmass, James Smyth, Paul Winter, Richard Ipaint, The Razorbills, Marcus Wright and more, with each act performing two or three of their own songs and collaborating on others.
Tickets will cost £5 with all proceeds going to sustain future Mill Sessions. Lost Wasp artist Alan McClure, lead singer with critically acclaimed band The Razorbills, said, “We’re really looking forward to this gig. There’s so much more talent in the region than many people recognise – hopefully this will be the start of something quite exciting on the Galloway music scene!” The Lost Wasp Label Launch will take place at 7:30pm, Friday 23rd August.
Tickets £5. As always: in the Faed Gallery, Mill on The Fleet, Gatehouse of Fleet DG7 2HS. Tel: 01557 814099
