ITV Border Scotland Opt-Out’s Coming To Sky Digital Platform

Engineering work carried out in 2013 allowed ITV Border to split their signal, and transmit separate services for England and Scotland on Freeview as of January 2014.
This change enabled ITV to broadcast its Scotland-only current affairs programmes, Representing Border and Border Life, in the Scottish part of the Border region.
ITV can today confirm that work is now underway to include this coverage on the satellite platform, extending ITV Border Scotland availability to Sky customers.
ITV are working with Sky, with the aim of finalising the technical changes by Mid March, and Sky will be sending full instructions to their customers on what viewers will need to do to minimise impact to their existing recordings, during the change.
Ahead of the General Election, ITV can also confirm its intention to broadcast Scottish Party Election Broadcasts and the STV Leader Debate on the Border Scotland service, which will be available on both Freeview and Sky Platforms to viewers in the Scottish part of the Border region.
MSP Joan McAlpine had been involved in discussisions with Ofcom and ITV Chief Adam Crozier tio get this service back on Sky Digital followin it’s removal when Border & Tyne Tees merged operations.

I am delighted that the ITV Border Scotland will be extended to freesat and Sky platform. The decision is very welcome, but not before time!
Currently my constituents watching ITV Border on satellite are shown the ITV Border England service which is simply not good enough.
I am also very glad to hear that ITV Border will be showing party political broadcasts and the STV leaders debate, as I recall there was some reluctance to broadcast similar debates in the run up to last year’s referendum!”
ITV Border Scotland launches on Sky channel 103 on March 16th 2015.
