Literacy Weekend: Angus MacNeacail returns to Dumfries and Galloway

One of Scotland’s foremost poets and songwriters Angus MacNeacail will appear in Dumfries on 8 September as part of the forthcoming Rediscover Literacies weekend organised by Dumfries and Galloway Council.
Angus will appear at the Crichton Campus at an event jointly hosted by the community group Gaidhlig Dumgal; there will be chance to try your own hand at creative writing under Angus’ tuition or learn some Gaelic; then in the afternoon Angus will speak about his work. Artist Sheila Mullen, will follow Angus, telling us how Scottish literature, especially Angus’s poetry have inspired her work.

Angus will also appear later on the evening of the 8th September at an “Open Mics” event at the Coach & Horses, on the Whitesands Dumfries where folk can read a poem, sing a song, tell a story, preferably in Gaelic, (although it’s not compulsory!) Entry to the ‘Open Mics’ event is a free of charge.
