Manchester Blood Bikes – Snow Drop Appeal
This week, members of the Dumfries and Galloway Blood Bikes joined Chris Lewis-Todd and other volunteers from the Manchester group to deliver the toiletries to University Hospital of South Manchester.

Chris and Colette, lost their baby Little Pop in October 2015 and spent two nights at the University Hospital of South Manchester NHS Foundation Trust (UHSM)’s Snow Drop Suite, which cares for women and their families when they have to give birth to a baby who is past 16 weeks of pregnancy and has no chance of surviving the birth.

During their stay they identified a need for toiletries for parents and families while they were away from home, often unplanned, and, as a way of saying thank you, they organised a collection for other parents going through similar tragic circumstances.

Chris said “I had never met the Dumfries and Galloway Blood Bikes team before and have been so touched by their support for the Snow Pop Project”

Helen Thompson, Head of Midwifery accepted the donation on behalf of UHSM said: “We have been amazed by the generosity shown by the Dumfries and Galloway and Manchester Blood Bikes. This act of kindness means that parents will have one less thing to worry about while they are in the early stages of grieving for their child.

Scott Anderson of Dumfries & Galloway Blood Bikes was the D&G team contact for the project and said “Our team were very keen to offer assistance to our fellow Blood Bikers and are very proud to have been a part of this project.  We wish Blood Bikes Manchester the very best of luck with their campaign and look forward to working with them again.”
