Local Man in Court After Stand Off

PoliceBrian Ross of Syme Road in Dumfries, was charged with locking himself in a bathroom with a knife and refusing to co-operate with police in court today ( Wednesday)  following a stand off involving armed police which lasted 14 hours.

He admitted behaving in an abusive manner and causing public resources to be used to ensure his safety. Mr Ross also admitted threatening behaviour towards his wife. Sentence at Dumfries Sheriff Court was deferred.

Solicitor David Finnie said arrangements had been made to transfer Ross from the court to a local hospital.

Sheriff George Jamieson deferred sentence for a month for background reports and allowed Ross bail with a condition he did not enter his home at Syme Road or contact his wife.

The incident in Dumfries started on Monday night lasted just over 13hours.
