MOTORWAY CLOSURE ON THE SCOTLAND – ENGLAND BORDER

THERE are big traffic problems on the Scotland – England border this morning after reports of a man jumping from a motorway bridge.
Police are currently dealing with an incident at Junction 45 of the M6 and have closed part of the southbound carriageway near Gretna.
Police from both sides of the border were called at 7.34am with reports that a man had jumped from the bridge, and are appealing for witnesses.
Motorists heading south into Cumbria should exit the M74 at Junction 21, follow the B7076 through Springfield to the A6071, to Junction 45 of the M6 and continue down.
The road is expected to be closed for much of the day
There are no closures northbound but motorists should expect delays.
