DUMFRIESSHIRE MSP Oliver Mundell says the SNP Government are failing his constituent’s health as a damning report shows only 69 per cent of people in Dumfries and Galloway are in good health.
That is in stark difference to those in Grampian where 79 per cent of people have reported to be in good health leading the local MSP to slam the Government’s record over the last decade.
Commenting Oliver Mundell MSP said: “The fact that almost one in three people across such a vast region as Dumfries and Galloway can’t report they are in good health is a damning verdict on the SNP’s record on health.
“All too often we hear talk from the SNP about they are going to improve people’s diets and encourage greater forms of exercise but the truth is that they have made absolutely no progress at all.
“It is a scandal that there is so much disparity in terms of people’s health across Scotland as if the SNP’s record on health had been anywhere near good enough, there wouldn’t be a ten per cent difference between people in the south of Scotland and those in the north.
“The NHS in this region is already facing enough difficulties due to a lack of investment from the Scottish Government in our health services and these problems will only intensify if the Scottish Government doesn’t get serious about tackling the nation’s health issues.
“It is a fairly damning verdict on the First Minister, who was also health secretary during the SNP’s time in administration that two thirds of Scots are overweight after almost ten years of them being in charge of Scotland’s health service.
“This situation is completely unacceptable and the Scottish Government need to up their game in order to achieve much better results next year.”
