Music Plus 2015 – back in Dumfries & Galloway!

Music Plus is currently launching across Scotland and, in particular, across Dumfries and Galloway throughout the month of January. This is an extremely exciting project that we are very lucky to have in our region.

Young people aged 14 – 19 will be offered the opportunity to take part in a range of music activities; from instrumental and technical tuition to songwriting, new technology, DJ and MC skills, sound engineering and music business through the Scottish Music Centre’s Music Plus programme.

Activities are specially tailored to the specific interests of the participant and include practical one-to-one advice and support as well as hands-on monthly learning sessions. All the tutors and mentors who deliver the project are Scottish industry professionals from major label musicians and songwriters to grammy award winning composers to live music promoters, band managers and entrepreneurs. Music Plus covers all genres of music from hip-hop to opera and all aspects of the business.

All of this is available free of charge thanks to the Scottish Government Youth Music Initiative programme which is administered by Creative Scotland. Numbers are limited and young people can apply via www.musicplus.org.uk as well as a range of videos showing you what the project is all about. Applications should be made early to ensure such a great opportunity for young people in Dumfries and Galloway isn’t missed!!
