Scottish employers are being urged to make young people their business in 2013.
Youth Employment Minister, Angela Constance has joined Young Scot in calling for organisations and businesses to work together and help young people increase their life chances this year.
The call comes as young people are making their 2013 New Year resolutions which include gaining work experience, securing a place at university and progressing with modern apprenticeships.
Ms Constance said:
“My New Year message to employers large and small is make young people your business in 2013. Let’s work together to help the next generation make the most of their lives by providing them with opportunities which will also benefit our economy.
“Young people are Scotland’s future. They have so much to offer in terms of drive, ambition, creativity and passion. Therefore, in 2013 I hope to see more businesses giving young people a chance and prospering from the difference young people can make.”
Louise Macdonald, Chief Executive of Young Scot, said:
“At Young Scot, our New Year wish is for organisations across Scotland to work together to connect young people with the opportunities that will help them as they grow up. The past year has been tough for young people looking for training and employment, so we hope that by working together to connect them to services that work for them, we can give young people the practical support and care they need to make the best possible start to 2013 and beyond.”
