Police appeal for witnesses after dog attack

Police in Lockerbie are seeking assistance from the public to identify a dog and its owner after an 11 year old girl was attacked and badly bitten in McJerrow Park in the town on Sunday 13 November 2011. About 1340 hours on Sunday the girl was playing in McJerrow Park when she was attacked by a brown and white coloured dog which she describes as a Staffordshire bull terrier type dog. The girl was repeatedly bitten on both legs before the following female approached and took the dog away. The victim was thereafter collected from the park and taken to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary where she was treated for the bites. The female who took the dog away is described as being in her mid to late 20s, about 5’ 5” tall wand was wearing a white coloured fleece.
