POLICE NAME MAN WHO DIED IN CAR FIRE NEAR LOCHMABEN

A MAN has been found dead in a car which was ablaze at Halleaths, near Lochmaben last night.
Police and Fire experts have been probing the fire in a joint investigation and trying to find out how the fire started.
Emergency services were called to the fire in a car at the caravan site at Hallheaths at Lochmaben at around 10.25pm last night, (Monday August 17).
On arrival the body of a man was found and he was pronounced dead at the scene. The man has been identified as 73 year old George Smith from Kintail Park in Lockerbie.
Inspector Graham Kerr of Police Scotland said today: “A joint fire investigation has taken place between Police Scotland the Fire and Rescue Service and there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding this death. The Procurator Fiscal has been informed of the circumstances.”
