Police Scotland warning on house raids

Thieves have targeted another two houses in Dumfries with jewellery and other times stole taken from one but the raider was disturbed in the second incident.
Police Scotland officers are investigating a break-in to a house on Barnton Road in Dumfries which happened sometime overnight Sunday 26/Monday 27 July 2015.
At this stage it is not fully known what has been stolen although jewellery, a DVD player and a Tesco HUDL are believed to be part of the haul.
Constable Paul Murphy of Police Scotland in Dumfries said: “We are keen to hear from anyone who may have heard or seen anything suspicious in the Barnton Road area over this period.
“In particular we are aware that banging noises were heard near the scene of this crime between 0100 hours and 0-200 hours on Monday 27 July 2015.
“We would also remind the public that Police Scotland are happy to take calls at any time of the day or night, through 101, in relation to anything suspicious that the public might want to report.
“We would rather check out a call which turned out to be a false alarm at the time, than get a call at a later time which may take longer to investigate.”
In another incident there was an attempt to break into a house in Annan Road in Dumfries at around 0215 hours on Tuesday 28 July 2015.
An attempt was made to gain entry to the house through a door which was badly damaged as a result. This was a noisy attempt and the householder was awoken at this time.
