Queens prepare for Rangers clash

QUEEN of the South host Rangers today on the back of a disappointing League Cup show on Tuesday.
It’s a huge match for the Doonhamers but manager James Fowler reckons Queens players will be up for th match.
The Sunday afternoon match will draw a big crowd to Palmerston and despite the midweekdisappointment.
Despite a 100 per cent Championship League record the Doonhamers go into Sunday’s match on the back of a Scottish League Cup defeat.
Fowler was disappointed by the 1-0 loss to fellow Championship side Morton in front of the Palmerston faithful which came just a week after Livingston knocked them out of the Petrofac Training Cup.
Fowler has warned his squad that they will have to be at the top of their game if they are to pull off a win.
“Playing against Rangers we’ll have to be better for they have started off really strongly in the league.
“We set standards earlier in the season and it’s important in every game that we get to them individually and collectively as well,” said Fowler.
He added: “We’ve got a good record against the top clubs and everyone is looking forward to the match. Hopefully there should be a big crowd and we should have a lot of fans behind us,” he said.
Looking back on the cup tie, Fowler said: “It’s hard to explain the defeat for we played so well on Saturday in the league to beat Dumbarton and then not so well on Tuesday night in the cup.
“It’s just one of those things you look back and feel frustrated and look on it as a missed opportunity to progress to the next round, especially after last week.
“We were conscious of this and wanted to try and get through to the draw where the bigger teams come in,” he said.
Now Fowler has to get his player back on track for the big game against Rangers which has a 12.30pm kick off.
He said: “It’s now time for the players to rest up and reflect on Tuesday night and see where they could have done better individually and collectively.
“Then we’ll look forward to the game on Sunday. The frustrating thing is that they have been so good in the league and the cups have been disappointing.’
Fowler added: “It’s just one of those things that’s difficult to explain. Sometimes, obviously the focus is on the bigger picture which is the league but it would have been nice to go and get a cup run.
Rangers arrive at on the back of a record breaking 7 wins from 7 starts . Mark Warburton has assembled a young free scoring side including the exciting James Tavernier who was christened the “Blue Cafu” by the Rangers fans after his scoring exploits .
Rangers will be looking to continue their fine start today and the match is available live on BT Sport kick off is 12.30pm .
