Temporary Traffic Management Order 2014: A781 Nith Street/Whitesands, B725 St Michael Street/NithPlace, U783n Irish Street (Dumfries)
The Council is currently carrying out major resurfacing works at the Shakespeare Street/Nith Place/Irish Street/St Michael Street junction in Dumfries.
This required a Temporary Traffic Management Order, with the road being closed between Irish Street and Whitesands, the traffic flow on St Michael Street (between Shakespeare Street and Brooms Road) being reversed, and traffic diverted to St Michael’s Bridge and Dockhead. With the road being closed and temporary traffic lights operating, unfortunately, there have been inevitable delays for traffic.
This phase of these essential works started on Sunday 19 January 2014 and was expected to last a week. However, good progress has been made and the project is now ahead of schedule. As a result, the road will be reopened to traffic later this afternoon (Wednesday 22 January 2014) and the usual traffic control will resume.
