Wayne Rooney scored his 45th and 46th international goals as England won their first match on Scottish soil for 15 years at Celtic Park.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain gave England a first-half lead with a glancing header from a Jack Wilshere clipped pass.
England captain Rooney doubled the lead almost immediately after half time with a close-range header.
Andrew Robertson pulled a goal back for Scotland but Rooney scored again from an Adam Lallana pass to seal the win.
