Scouts found safe and well

A GROUP of Scouts have been found safe and well after a big search in the Ae Forest area north of Dumfries yesterday.
Police, forest rangers, a helicopter and Moffat Mountain Rescue team joined the search four four males a female all aged 13 years of age who were reported missing.
They had been reported missing after being last seen in the Ae Forest around 3.3opm .
The five scouts were last seen about 3.30pm on Monday 27th July at Clonfeckle Tower south of Ae and were due to walk towards Craigshields which is north of Ae.
Police made an appeal to the public to report any sightings of this group to police on 101 or 999 if necessary. The scouts were all wearing outdoor clothing and should have bee equipped with torches.
A Moffat MRT spokesman said on their Facebook page: “The team was called out by Police Scotland late last night to search for a group of scouts hiking in Ae forest.
“Scouts found safe and well by Police Scotland officers & forest ranger who were assisting in search. Thanks again to the crew of R177 who assisted the team with there search.”
It was the second time in 24 hours that the Moffat MRT had been called out. On Sunday they helped as a woman was airlifted to hospital near Moffat with a leg injury.
