A six-week mass participation “game” to get a whole community to take more exercise comes to an end in Dalbeattie and Annan tonight.

The Dumfriesshire towns are the first in Scotland to play “Beat the Street”.Organisers say it has been a success with more than a third of the Annan’s 10,000 population actively involved. Many local people hope that Dumfries and Galloway Council may take up the mantle and continue the game in these areas. .
