Police_Scotland_logoAbout 0240 hours on Saturday 17 August 2013 a road traffic collision occurred on the A75 Gretna to Stranraer road near to Calgow Farm, about 1 miles east of Newton Stewart.

A 19 year old male pedestrian appears to have been struck by an eastbound lorry. The pedestrian has been conveyed to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary where he is being treated for serious head injuries.

The roadway was closed to allow collision investigation to be carried out and a diversion route established. The road was re-opened about 0930 hours.

Despite the late time of this collision it is believed that a number of vehicles would have been in the area both before and after the incident. Police have already stopped and spoken with a number of lorry drivers, but we are appealing for anyone who has not already been spoken to who was in the area to contact them on the police non emergency telephone number 101.
