Skateboard themed Pop-Up Gallery at Kings on 2nd/3rd June

Another Pop-up gallery in Kings opens over the Jubilee weekend; 2nd & 3rd June.
Following the success of ‘No-Landscapes’ pop-op gallery in the spring, the same team came up with a unique idea, to create art from skateboards.
The exhibition, at Kings Coffee and Books will feature the work of 10 local artists, using a bunch of skate decks. It’s called START HERE.
Curator, Peter Smith said, “The start of summer is the perfect time, season and place to show the incredible creative talent from Dumfries who are willing to push boundaries, and create unique art.
Art should make a statement and provoke emotion. We took an icon of youth culture; a symbol of summer and adventure – a blank skateboard deck, and handed one to each artist, commissioning them to give us a feeling of summer. What they each brought back is incredible.”
Opening night is 7.30pm on Saturday June 2nd, running through the afternoon of Sunday 3rd, and everyone is welcome to come to see the work for themselves in this unique temporary gallery space in Kings Coffee shop.
Peter concludes, “Whether you’re a buyer, critic, art lover, skater or never usually interested in art, make sure to drop in and discover something that will inspire you to have a real adventure this summer.”
