Solway Skaters in Winter Cup

 

For Solway Stars and Solway Eclipse this was the first competition of a season that holds new challenges for the teams. Both teams are competing in new categories and are forever striving to hit their personal best.

 

As Winter Cup came to a close the teams left with incredible achievements. Solway Eclipse landed the bronze medal position in the Mixed Age category, beating some top class competitors in a category in which they are new to. Solway Stars came 4th in the Junior competition and received a new Personal Best in a category with teams who have had years of experience at competing at such high a level.

Chair Person, Ann Marie Wood, of the Solway Sk8ing Club commented on the achievements of both teams:

“We are immensely proud of both our Solway Stars and Solway Eclipse teams who were excellent ambassadors for not just Solway Sk8ing Club but Dumfries and the UK while competing in the Wintercup in Belgium.  Both teams faced very strong opposition in their respective categories and therefore to earn a 4th place and a Bronze medal was a fantastic start to our competing season.  The teams are now all back in training for The British Synchronised Skating Championships which take place in Nottingham on 14/15 January 2017. For the first time ever Solway Sk8ikng Club will have 4 competing teams taking part which is remarkable for our Club and speaks volumes about the input which we receive from our dedicated coaches which allows our skaters to continually improve.”
