Thought For The Day – 4.7.12

Written by on July 4, 2012

There is an old Irish blessing, which goes like this:

May the road rise to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
And rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again; and until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of your hand.

Religious or not, we can all stand to take something from this blessing. If you are someone who shys away from a challenge, or maybe the day ahead is full of challenges which you’d rather not have to face – maybe it’s your final school test before the holidays, or maybe it’s that pitch to your boss which could make or break your day? Whatever it is, this blessing shows us the importance of not shying away from challenges, but instead standing and facing them – no-matter what we need never despair, because God will always be there to support us through all of our trials and toils. So no matter what challenges the day today may bring, whether it’s cleaning out the garage after having put it off for so long, or maybe it’s having to face the traffic into work, whatever the challenges you may face today, and in every day of your life, remember that no-matter what you are never alone, may the road rise to meet you, may the wind be always at your back.
