Torrential rain in Dumfries and Galloway
Written by admin on July 5, 2012
The Met Office have issued an Amber Warning of Rain for Dumfries and Galloway valid from 1400hrs to 2355hrs today.
Scattered heavy showers or thunderstorms are likely at times on Thursday, particularly during the afternoon and evening, with the potential for some torrential downpours in places.
Some very heavy rain is being seen now in parts of Dumfries and Galloway and these thundery showers are expected to spread to parts of the Borders, parts of Strathclyde and perhaps some Central areas through the rest of today. Up to 25 mm could fall in a short space of time in some locations.
Where the showers occur, some local surface water flooding issues can be expected, especially in more urban areas. The showers will die out later in the evening.
The Council are monitoring the situation and making necessary arrangments.
